Unite to Ignite – A Trip of a Lifetime

I’ve got to share with you the most incredible journey I went on recently! It all started the summer of 2023 when I set this ambitious goal for myself: to snag Color Street’s Unite to Ignite: Home Office Incentive. And guess what? With the amazing support of my friends, family, and Color Street Glimmer Gals, I not only achieved it but also contributed to a local fundraiser along the way! Ended up being one of the top 40 salespeople in the whole country in October, snagging the #24 spot—how awesome is that? Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be in the top 25 in the country! Of Color Street’s active Independent Stylists, less than 1% hardworking and dedicated Stylists achieved this incentive trip this year and over half of those stylists have earned more than one incentive trip over the past five years.

Once we got to New Jersey, I met Cathy and Stephanie in the hotel lobby and hopped a ride to NYC to the 9/11 Memorial. The impact of this somber visit cannot be expressed.  After walking around the memorial pools, we did a self-guided tour of the museum.  We were there for about 3 hours and still didn’t get through it all.  The museum is a striking tribute to the lives of those who perished, and to those that survived, the terroristic attacks of 9/11 and 1993. I also had the opportunity to exchange a challenge coin from my police department for patches from 2 NYPD officers after chatting with the officers for a bit. Officer Joe, a 13 year veteran of NYPD, even offered to take a photo with me.  I later shared a brief conversation and challenge coin with Port Authority Police Officers.  I love it when my two worlds intersect!

Fast forward to January (during my birthday week), and I found myself joining this amazing group of stylists from across the US and Canada for a super special trip to Color Street’s Home Office in Totowa and Manufacturing facility in Clifton, New Jersey. Three days filled with pampering, learning, and, of course, tons of fun!

It’s been nearly two weeks since I got back, and I still can’t wrap my head around all the incredible experiences I had. Meeting the CEO, sharing my thoughts with the COO over dinner—it felt like a dream come true! At one point during our pajama party on the first night, I had to ask my Field Training Manager Peggy to pinch me because I couldn’t believe I was actually there! The whole experience was surreal, filled with adventure, making new friends, and being blown away by everything.

Let me tell you about the highlight of the trip for me—getting an insider’s look at how those magical nail polish strips are made. From color matching and design stamping to the final packaging and shipment process—it was mind-blowing! Did you know that our strips are quality-checked by real people? The attention to detail is incredible and the staff were so friendly. And seeing the new production equipment they’re still developing? Absolutely fascinating! It gave me a whole new appreciation and understanding of why it can take so long for a polish style to get restocked!  They produce inventory WEEKS in advance (We saw some of the new St. Patrick’s Day Designs, also!)

Now, let’s talk about the tour of the home office building in Totowa. Walking into the building with staff cheering and seeing my face on a big screen—it was such an honor! And the common rooms with colorful spaces to relax or work and the fitness spaces with a golf simulator and yoga area—talk about a dream workspace! I really enjoyed the comfy relaxation pods!

But you know what made the trip truly special? The people. The sense of community and support among everyone there was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. And even now, two weeks later, we’re still connected, sharing and supporting each other every step of the way. Being part of such an amazing community of women who uplift and inspire one another has been an absolute blessing! At the airport about a dozen of us enjoyed time at an airport watering hole for a birthday happy hour!
