Spring Clean Your Beauty Routine
Hey there, Glimmer Gal! Can you feel it? The days are getting longer, the air is getting warmer, and nature is waking up from its winter slumber. Yep, spring is right around the corner, and you know what that means—it’s time to give our beauty routines a little refresh!
So grab your favorite beverage, cozy up, and let’s chat about how we can declutter, lighten up, and breathe new life into our makeup and skincare routines for the season ahead.
The Importance of Spring Cleaning Your Makeup
First things first, let’s talk about why it’s crucial to spring clean our makeup stash. You know those old eyeshadows and lipsticks that have been sitting in the back of your drawer since who-knows-when? Yeah, it’s time to bid them adieu. Using expired makeup can lead to all sorts of not-so-pretty problems, like breakouts and infections. So, let’s do ourselves a favor and toss anything that’s past its prime.
Lightening Up Your Makeup Look
Now that we’ve got our skincare sorted, let’s talk makeup. Spring is all about embracing a fresh, natural look. Think dewy skin, flushed cheeks, and a pop of color on the lips. Swap out your full-coverage foundation for a lighter formula. My favorite is a CC+ cream that hydrates with a light-to-medium coverage and has sunscreen built in. It’s also time to opt for sheer, buildable products that let your skin breathe, like our cheek balms. And don’t be afraid to play with color! Spring is the perfect time to experiment with bright eye looks and fun lip shades. You can go light with our tinted lip balm and hy-gloss lip oils or brighten up your look with a bright lipstick.
Refreshing Your Skincare Routine
With the changing seasons comes changing skincare needs. Say goodbye to heavy moisturizers and hello to lightweight formulas that won’t weigh you down. And don’t forget the SPF! Sun protection is a year-round necessity, but it’s especially important as we head into sunnier days. Look for a moisturizer with SPF built-in for effortless protection. My friend Jessi A., a L’Bri consultant, has an Oil-Free Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF32 . Do you have a favorite clean beauty moisturizer to recommend? Please share!
Decluttering Your Makeup Collection
Now, onto the fun part—decluttering! Take a good look at your makeup collection and ask yourself, “Do I really need all this stuff?” Be ruthless, my friend. If you haven’t used it in the past six months, chances are you won’t miss it and don’t forget to check those expiration dates! Mascara and liquid eyeliner should be replaced every three months, while powder products like eyeshadows and blushes can last about 18 months.
Spring Clean Your Beauty Tools
Last but not least, let’s not forget about our trusty beauty tools. From makeup brushes to blending sponges, these babies work hard for us every day, so it’s important to show them some love. Give your brushes a good clean with a gentle brush soap and water. I prefer using this unscented brush cleaner from EcoTools along with a silicone brush mat. Don’t forget to sanitize your makeup palettes and compacts by saturating with 70% isopropyl alcohol over every single one of your powder products (e.g. eyeshadow palettes, face powders, blushers, bronzers, etc) and ensure you thoroughly saturate. Finally, leave to evaporate and dry! We promise, they’ll be OK! But this will get rid of any nasties! Your skin will thank you!
And there you have it, Glimmer Gals—your guide to spring cleaning your beauty routine! Remember, the key is to keep things simple, fresh, and fun. So go ahead, declutter that makeup stash, embrace a lighter makeup look, and get ready to glow all season long. Happy spring cleaning!
