Renew Your Commitment to Yourself
Springtime brings new energy and a chance to renew our commitment to ourselves. As women, it’s essential to prioritize self-care, especially during the spring season. Here are some tips to help you prioritize self-care this spring:
- Skincare: With the change in weather, it’s important to adjust our skincare routine accordingly. Consider using a lightweight moisturizer and a gentle cleanser to keep your skin looking healthy and hydrated.
- Mental Health: Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation, Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, or a long soak in the tub, find what works for you and make it a regular part of your routine.
- Exercise: Get moving and enjoy the fresh air! Spring is the perfect time to try a new outdoor activity like hiking, biking, or gardening. Not only will you get some exercise, but you’ll also get to soak up some Vitamin D. I’m enjoying lunch break walks again now that the weather is warming up.
- Mental Health: Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation, whether that’s reading a book, taking a bath, or practicing yoga. Consider reaching out to a therapist or counselor if you’re struggling with stress or anxiety. I recently had a session with a therapist to help me with a specific situation and I’m so thankful I did!
- Spending time with friends: Social connections are crucial for our mental and emotional well-being. Make plans to spend time with friends, either in person or virtually. Grab a coffee, go for a walk, or schedule a Zoom happy hour.

Try incorporating new healthy habits into your routine, such as:
- Drinking more water or trying a new healthy recipe.
- Consider decluttering your space to create a calming environment for self-care activities.
- Refreshing your makeup drawer by purging expired cosmetics and making room for a new, fresh shade can also have a positive effect.
- Prioritize getting enough sleep each night.
Of those above, getting enough sleep is the toughest for me. Steve reminded me just last night that I need to get back to honoring a “normal” bedtime routine again.
Remember, self-care isn’t selfish. Taking care of yourself allows you to show up fully for the people and activities that matter most to you. So this spring, make yourself a priority and take the time this spring to invest in yourself and your self-care routine. Which tip can you work on this month? I’d love to know!
John 15: 4 says “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” Note the word abide (in the English Standard Version). To abide is to rest. We need to rest in Jesus.
