Recently one of our grandkids kept telling me he couldn’t do certain tasks, and I remembered lesseson from my own life that changed everything for me. I looked at him and said, “You know what? I can do hard things, and so can you. Repeat after me, ‘ I can do hard things, grandma’ and let’s give it another try!” And guess what? With that simple mindset shift, he was able to do many of the things he thought were impossible.
It got me thinking about my own journey of growth and self-discovery, and I realized that as women, we have this incredible power within us to sparkle and shine. Life hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned some valuable lessons along the way that I want to share with you.
1. Embracing My True Self:
You know, I used to struggle a lot with accepting myself fully. I had these tendencies, like procrastination, and sometimes, it felt like I was my own worst enemy. But then, I started paying attention to what I truly loved and what I was good at. I realized that I have this amazing ability to encourage others, to lift them up when they’re feeling down. So now, before I start my day, I take a moment to remind myself of my strengths and the reasons why I do what I do. It’s like giving myself a little pep talk, and it makes a world of difference.
2. Taking Time for My Growth:
I’ll let you in on a little secret – personal growth doesn’t have to be this big, overwhelming thing. I used to think I had to devote hours every day to it, but that’s not the case at all. Now, I commit to just 10 minutes a day for myself. I might read a few pages of a book that inspires me, listen to a podcast that lifts my spirits, or watch a Ted talk that opens my mind to new ideas. “Learn something new every day” is a mantra that has stayed with me all these years.
3. Overcoming My Inner Mean Girl:
Oh, we all have fears and insecurities, don’t we? There were times when those fears held me back from living a truly fulfilling life. But you know what? Part of my personal growth journey was facing those messages my inner mean girl was telling me head-on. It wasn’t easy, but I learned so much about myself in the process. Those weaknesses, they can become our strengths if we’re willing to understand them and work through them with compassion.
4. Finding My Support System:
Last fall, something amazing happened. I connected with a wonderful woman who became my accountability partner. We formed this little support group with a few more friends, and it’s been a game-changer. We check in with each other every day, sharing our personal development insights, our daily activities, and cheering each other on towards our goals. Having that support has made all the difference.
