Finding Grace in Chaos
Embracing Blessings in Every Moment
I’m currently sitting at the airport ready to fly home and am reflecting on this past week.
After Grandma Em’s funeral on Tuesday, I packed my bags and flew out to visit Mom in Arizona early Wednesday morning. I am so thrilled with how well she’s recovering from her fall this spring—her determination and positive mindset are truly inspiring. She’s proof that consistency really pays off. (See where I get it from?!)
We planned out the week, and when I asked if she wanted to go to the casino, her favorite spot, her eyes lit up! We had a lovely lunch at the casino restaurant and enjoyed some quality time together, seeing a fun and adventurous side of her. (It’s amazing how quickly she can chase down a casino worker while using her 3-wheeled walker!)
As for yesterday, it was quite the rollercoaster! I started the day with a great workout and swim, then headed back to Mom’s where we noticed an issue in the walls. After some calls to the HOA, pest control, and family, we were on our way to lunch with my soul-sister Annette, who introduced me to true Elote (which, by the way, I’m obsessed with!). Then Mom’s car broke down, and we ended up stranded in a Walmart parking lot. While waiting three hours for AAA to came for the tow, we hung out in the adjacent Starbucks, where I found a $5 gift card on my account from a training incentive (Thank you Becky @ Modern Direct Seller!) and did some Texas Hill Country trip planning. Once the car was taken care of, her neighbors picked us up and we capped off the day with wine & popcorn to celebrate making it home safely. What a day!
Today was much more relaxing. I slept in, got in another workout and swim, then helped Mom clean up the house and remake the beds to prepare for her next visitors. We also started mapping out our trip to Texas next April—it’s going to be amazing!
Things didn’t always go as planned, but through the chaos, we found so many blessings. From the little moments of laughter to the unexpected challenges, I could see God’s hand at work, reminding me to stay grounded in gratitude. Whether it was being there for Mom when her car broke down, enjoying time together over wine and popcorn, or even finding that surprise $5 Starbucks gift card, each moment was a reminder of His grace. I’m so thankful for the days we’ve shared and the ways He’s brought us closer through it all. Hug the ones you love tonight and say a prayer for those you can’t. I’m already looking forward to our next adventure, trusting God will continue to guide us every step of the way!
