Be Brave. Allow Yourself to Dream

Ten years ago today, I stood with a group of excited high schoolers sending them off on what would be a trip that they worked hard to earn, CHIC 2015, our denomination’s national triennial youth conference. I snapped a quick photo by the bus and waved as my son and his friends drove off, praying for God to work in their young lives as they began to dream of what “adulting” may look like in the not so distant future. It wasn’t that many years before I attended as a chaperone with our two older kids, and saw first-hand the impact that week could have in the faith journeys of attendees.

That week, through catching snips of the livestream. I was introduced to a voice that stuck with me: Moriah Peters. Her message of choosing Jesus, living brave, and embracing who you’re called to be spoke to me in such a timely way. I found myself going back to that album more than once in the years that followed—it was a quiet kind of encouragement during a really busy season.

Since then, Moriah has gotten married and evolved as an artist, now going by just Moriah. She’s released new music that still stops me in my tracks, including her brand-new single Superwoman, which dropped today, July 11, 2025.

Wow. This one hit deep.

It’s like she wrote it for every woman who once dreamed big but let life, busyness, or self-doubt quiet her fire. The lyrics speak to the heart of the woman who feels stuck or invisible, who used to believe in her own power but started playing small. Maybe that’s you right now, I know I’ve been there too.

If you’ve been feeling a little disconnected from that brave version of yourself…the one who used to fly all her hopes to the sky… take four minutes and listen. I’ve included a short snip of the song, but PLEASE search your own music provider and give the full song a listen. Let it be a reminder that she’s still in there. You’re still her.

This season is about remembering who we are, and stepping forward with faith. If you’ve packed away your dreams thinking the time has passed, I hope this is your gentle nudge to pull them back out. It’s not too late. In fact, I believe we’ve got decades of purpose left to live out God’s purpose for our lives.

You were created with a calling that no one else can fulfill. So let’s dream big again. Let’s risk wildly, worship freely, and show up for what we’re meant to do.

💖 I’m cheering for you.
Let your light shine.

With love and grace,

Ailene
